London Schools tour Mon 22nd Feb - Fri 26th March 2010
One
of the Machinima films used in the production by Rezzable productions .
'It was very impressive that you held the attention of a diverse group of year 10 students for the best part of 2 hours. The way in which drama can introduce complicated issues and multilayered dialogue is a constant source of delight'
John Billington (Head PSHCE) Carter Community School
'An excellent set up, very well organised. The content was accessible to the pupils and relevant to KS4 science"
Zarana Haines (head of science) Studley High School
‘Starfish’ is a new play by award-winning
playwright Judith Johnson, which aims to explore the
issues raised
by clinical trials.
Each performance will be followed by a live debate,
utilising electronic voting technology, during which
the students will be encouraged to explore what they
think and feel about the issues posed by the drama.
In addition we have with Rezzable productions created a virtual world which students and teachers can visit and 'participate' in a virtual clinical trial based on the famous James Lind trial for a treatment for scurvey.
Above is one
of the Machinima films shot in the virtual world Second
life by Rezzable for
the production.
‘Starfish’ is targeted at students at
KS4 and above (aged 14+). The production is accompanied
by a suite of online support materials which will engage
directly with science and humanities specifications.
Supported by the Wellcome Trust, National Institute for Health Research and Central YMCA. Developed in partnership with the AMRC.
