About Lorraine Deschamps
Lorraine was raised in Brazil, where she developed
her passion for football. In England she started out
as Club Secretary for a Youth Football Club in Middlesex,
and then moved on to become a fully qualified referee.
Now Lorraine is one of only a handful of female FA
Licensed Referee Instructors.
An active Level 5 referee, Lorraine operates as an
Assistant at Supply League level, and on the Women’s
Premier League. She referees in the Amateur Football
Combination League in London.
Lorraine contributes to the work of The FA Refereeing
Department as a member of their Sports Equity Advisory
Group advising on matters relating to equal opportunities
in football, and in particular, refereeing. Recently
she has been invited to become a ‘Football For
All’ Ambassador for The FA – a role which
requires her to promote key FA messages around equal
opportunities for all in football. Lorraine is
a director of Sporting Equals Ltd, a charitable organisation
funded by Sport England, which aims to eradicate racial
discrimination in all sports. She also represents Sporting
Equals on the Sports Equity Alliance, an umbrella organisation
set up by Sport England to promote diversity and equality
across all sports in England.
